LET'S GET STARTED!

Fundraising resources

Whether you’re a first-time fundraiser or a seasoned pro, every dollar you raise supports life-saving cancer research at Mater.

Top five tips for fundraising success

B2GC offers another level of dedication beyond just a cycling challenge—cycling for a loved one living with cancer.
Inspire, surprise or honour the cancer fighter in your life by personally dedicating your ride to them. Prove actions speak louder than words, as you raise awareness and vital funds to support life-saving cancer research and improve patient outcomes at Mater.

To get you started, here are our top five tips to set you up for success!

1.

Make your fundraising page shine

Log in to your dashboard and update your page. Add a profile picture and a personal message to let people know why you’ve decided to take on 100km and raise funds in support of those affected by cancer.

2.

Set the bar and self donate

Kickstart your fundraising with a self donation, showing them that this is a cause close to your heart. This encourages them to make a donation of a similar value to support you!

3.

Spread the word

You’re doing something incredible, so share it! The more people who see your fundraising page, the more donations you’ll receive. Post on social media, share it in group chats and send it by email. Don’t forget to keep your supporters updated on your progress!

4.

Get creative

There are so many different ways you can raise vital funds to support live-saving cancer research at Mater. Host a sausage sizzle or a trivia night, or create some friendly competition amongst your friends with a lucky numbers board!

5.

Say thank you!

Celebrate the meaningful difference your supporters are helping you make by saying thank you. You can send a text message, give them a call or make a post on social media to shout them out. It might feel like a small gesture, but it goes a long way to make your donors feel appreciated!

The more you raise, the more you’ll be rewarded

How to fundraise on social media

One of the easiest ways to ask for donations is to use social media!

Download this guide to help maximise your fundraising using social media, including draft posts you might like to use.

Some hints and tips:

  • Give people a suggestion on how much to donate.
  • Tell your network why you’re so passionate about taking on 100km in support of those affected by cancer. This can really help boost your donations!
  • Let people know how their donation will make a difference. All funds raised by B2GC riders will help support life-saving cancer research at Mater.
  • Keep your friends and family updated on your progress, and thank those who have donated! They might be encouraged to support you again in future, and if you do a public shout out, others might also want to jump in and show their support too!
  • Don’t forget to tag us so your network can click through and learn more about us. On Facebook and Instagram, type @brisbanetogoldcoast.

Important note: If you are posting on Facebook, please don’t select Facebook’s ‘Add a Donate Button’. Your donations will be processed through Facebook, which means they won’t be reflected on your fundraising page.

Fundraising in your workplace

As a corporate team or someone looking to their network for additional support, here are some tips to help you give your fundraising a boost!

Matched giving

Ask your manager or HR department if your workplace can offer matched giving. This is when your workplace matches the amount of money you raise, doubling your total. Use the template below to approach your workplace—don’t forget to fill out the parts in red!

Host a morning tea

Organising a morning tea is a simple way to spread the word about your B2GC ride. Gather your colleagues and share why you are riding 100km and raising funds for cancer research.

You can take the opportunity to ask your colleagues to support your ride with a donation. You might like to print out a fundraising poster to point people to where they can donate, and you can use it to track your fundraising!

Lolly jar guessing game

For a bit of fun, fill up a jar with your favourite lollies and ask your colleagues to guess how many are in the jar. Ask for a $5 donation in exchange for guess, and the winner receives the whole jar as their prize!

Downloadable tools
