About Point to Pinnacle

The world's toughest half marathon.

On 20 November, more than 3,000 people will come together to take on Mount Wellington in the race to the pinnacle for this year's Point to Pinnacle in Hobart.

The Point to Pinnacle is now regarded by many as the toughest road half marathon in the world, and for good reason, with just over 1270 m of ascending, gradients above 10% and extreme changes in climate and weather conditions. The event is a challenge of the human spirit and allows people of all ages and abilities to be involved through the run or walk.

Point to Pinnacle - 21.1KM

Course and location: Wrest Point car park to the pinnacle of Mount Wellington, Hobart

Run or walk the 21.1 km course

The course is 21.1km long and just over 1,270 metres in elevation. This race is physically challenging and scenically stunning.

Where else in the world can you be on the waterfront, surrounded by historic buildings and gastronomic delights one moment, and atop a mountain the next. Only in Hobart!

  • Walkers Start: 7.00am (allowing 4hrs 40 mins to complete the course)
  • Runners Start: 8.00am (allowing 3hrs 40 mins to complete the course)
  • Finish Cut Off: 11.40am

Course and location: Wrest Point car park to the Ferm Tree Tavern, Hobart

Run or walk the 10 km course

The course is 10 km long and climbs 460 m in elevation. This race is physically challenging and scenically stunning.

Where else in the world can you be on the waterfront, surrounded by historic buildings and gastronomic delights one moment, and atop a mountain the next. Only in Hobart!

  • Walkers Start: 7.00am (allowing 3hrs to complete the course)
  • Runners Start: 8.00am (allowing 2hrs to complete the course)
  • Finish Cut Off: 10.00am
