Noosa Triathlon 2020

My Activity Tracking

My target 100 kms

Why I Tri

I've committed to being part of Team Smiddy at the 2020 Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival.

That means in November, I'll be taking on a 1500m swim, 40km ride and 10km run! Yes, I'll be pushing my body to the limit.

Why am I taking on this challenge?

Because I'm committed to the long, hard road to fight cancer.

As part of my challenge I'm aiming to raise a minimum of $1000 to fund ground-breaking research at Mater into the causes, prevention and treatment of various types of cancer.

And this is where I need your help.

Will you support my fundraising by making a donation today?

My Updates

Training and fundraising

Wednesday 21st Oct
Given Covid-19 this year has been turned upside down, and all the plans I had for a 50th year on this planet just haven't worked out. I know I'm not the only one, so I thought I would stay as positive as I can and still look to complete/hit some goals for 2020. Some of my goals included:- Being the fittest and healthiest version of myself - ever!, Complete 2 x 70.3 ironman triathlons, go to Noosa with my family, and raise some money cancer research and support via Smiling for Smiddy.

Although all events I had entered this year have been cancelled I decided to keep training. It is disappointing that Noosa isn't going ahead but I am going to put all my hard training into action on the 1st November #notnoosachallenge, and complete a Half ironman 70.3 here in Bairnsdale! The course is yet to be determined. I am still wanting to raise awareness of the impact of cancer on our lives and of course if anyone has a few dollars to spare you are more then welcome to donate to my page!.

Further details to come on the location of the swim, ride and run but my plan is to finish at Howitt Park Bairnsdale.

You are welcome to join me on the day and can give support either via catching me at an aid station/checkpoint or riding/running with me. The ride and run will be a loop course so you can join me along the way!

I can't wait to finish of my final training block and get out there! Hopefully our Victorian weather will be kind to me!

Not Noosa challenge

Wednesday 14th Oct
Given the cancellation of the Noosa Tri and other planned events this year I thought I cant’t let my training go to waste!! So on the 1st of November I am going to complete a half Ironman triathlon in Bairnsdale. It will start with a swim in the lake (the river is in partial flood at the moment). A 90km circuit around Bairnsdale followed by 3 laps around the river walk loop!!

Beat Covid and raise some money and awareness for cancer at the same time!

I have been training since March and have built a very strong base. I am feeling strong and probably the forest I have ever been!

I can’t wait check out what my training has achieved, my new Vo2 max and strength training.

3 weeks to go! A solid week of training this week, lighter next and then taper into the last week.....

I was originally wanting to raise money and awareness of cancer and still do but understand that it isn’t long to go...but any donation is a good donation.

Thank you to my Sponsors
