Finally my foot is getting better
Went for a swim today and for the first time in a couple of months, my left foot is feeling better. I have my family coming down to visit but once they have gone, I will get another time down.Happy New Year all
In a rare moment of sanity, I decided to skip the drinking on NYE and woke up happier I did. Went to the pool early, and surprise surprise it was quiet. Still think my lungs aren't quite there yet post covid and my left foot is still mending but the distance is now not a problem (almost did 2kms yesterday). So a Happy New year to all except those swimmers who stand at the end of a lane and discuss the inner workings of the cosmos with the person in the next lane. Go grab a coffee like the bikers. Rant over.Lungs
Swam today. Nice that Sleeman is open again. Would be nicer if they had advertised that they were hosting the QLD championships for 4 weeks. Either way, great that they are open to the public again. Anyway, swam and felt my lungs are the current bottleneck. Felt like 90% capacity. Left foot starting to feel better - Finally. No time recorded but the distance is no longer a mental challenge. Decided to rely on my watch for distance when the race is on. Happy training all!Swam again today
Swam again today for the first time in two weeks due to a sore foot. Lungs still reeling from COVID but the swimming is helping clear them up. This is the last week of school so hopefully everyone leaves town over the Christmas period and the pool lanes are free!! Oh, saw a flier at the pool today that has selection times for 1500 for the open category. The pass time was sub-20 mins!! Clearly I will have to see what the masters category time is.Baseline time
Second 1.5 KM swim this week. Did it in 37:07. That is with still weak lungs and a bung left foot. However, I have a time to beat now. Let the competition begin!Post COVID - 0 stars!
Today is Wednesday the 16th of November. I’ve spent the past 7 days home isolating as I suffer my first bout of COVID. With a negative RAT test, it was time to start the training. 30 laps done with no timings just to wrap the mental expectation up and lock it in. Tomorrow I aim to get a baseline time down and work from there. The journey begins
I’ve decided to be the swimmer in a Tri-team for the 2023 Noosa Tri. Let’s see how this journey goes!! I’ll post up training times and see what the outcome is after a year.I am taking on Noosa Triathlon 2023!
I've committed to being part of Team Smiddy at the 2023 Noosa Triathlon.
That means in November, I'll be taking on an Olympic distance triathlon. That's a 1500m swim, 40km ride and 10km run! Yes, I'll be pushing my body to the limit.
Why am I taking on this challenge?
Because I'm committed to the long, hard road to fight cancer.
As part of my challenge I'm aiming to raise funds towards ground-breaking research at Mater into the causes, prevention and treatment of various types of cancer.
And this is where I need your help.
Will you support my fundraising by making a donation today?
