Sri Lanka Eye Surgery Outreach
We are a team of eye care professionals based at Redlands Eye Specialists and the Mater South Brisbane, committed to restoring sight to those in need. Cataracts remain the leading cause of blindness worldwide, yet with timely surgery, vision can be restored quickly and effectively.
This October, our team will travel to Sri Lanka to address a critical shortage of eye care services. Working alongside local partners, we aim to perform up to 500 cataract surgeries in just one week for patients who would otherwise remain untreated.
Each surgery costs approximately $200, covering essential equipment and care, including consumable materials, intraocular lenses, hand pieces and cataract machines which will be donated to the hospital for ongoing use. With an estimated trip cost of $100,000, we are seeking donations to make this life-changing work possible. Your support will directly help restore sight, improve quality of life, and create lasting impact for hundreds of individuals and their families.
