About Smiddy

First held in memory of Adam Smiddy, who passed away from an aggressive melanoma aged 26, “Smiling for Smiddy” delivers inspiring cycling and triathlon challenge events under the banner of teamwork, spirit and mateship. 

Close to $20 million has been raised since the first Smiddy event in 2006, just weeks after Adam’s passing, and this community continues to inspire and enable Mater’s world-class cancer researchers.

Mater Research’s approach to treating and defeating cancer is through creating a collaborative eyosystem that starts right back from innovative ideas, working those through to viable therapies, delivering that to patients in the clinic and drawing on international expertise to ensure this is done as quickly as possible for patients.
