First Smiddy Experience
This year, I am joining my dad volunteering for the 20th year anniversary ride for Smiling for Smiddy. Dad was a friend of Adam Smiddy and has been involved since the first ride in 2006. I am proud to be joining Dad this year as volunteer for the Smiling for Smiddy Challenge Victoria Ride 2026. The ride is from the 24th to the 29th of March 2026.
Smiling for Smiddy is an a event that is about so much more than just cycling. It’s a powerful show of community spirit, resilience, and hope, bringing people together to support cancer research and honour those whose lives have been impacted by the disease.
Volunteering at the ride gives us the chance to see firsthand the dedication of the riders, support crews, and organisers who all share the same goal — making a difference.
For us, it’s also about spending time together and giving back as a family. Dad has previously completed the Brisbane to Townsville ride with his Uncle and also volunteered with his Dad on several rides. Standing on the sidelines cheering riders on, hearing their stories, and seeing the determination behind every kilometre reminds us why this cause matters so much.
The Smiddy Ride isn’t just an event — it’s a community united by compassion, generosity, and the belief that together we can help create a future free from cancer. We’re incredibly grateful to play even a small part in that journey each year.
Thanks for your ongoing support. Please see the attached fundraising page if you wish to help out with a donation.
Thanks Gus
Will you support my fundraising?
I'm taking on Challenge Victoria in March 2026!
Why am I supporting this challenge?
Because I’m committed to making a real impact for cancer research at Mater.
As part of the challenge I’m raising vital funds to support the work of Mater Research—Mater’s world-class research institute that’s investing in some game-changing work into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer.
And this is where I need your help.
Together, we can help give more families more time together; to make more memories.
Will you support my fundraising by making a donation to my fundraising page today?
