Challenge South Australia

Will you support my fundraising?

In March 2024, I will again be joining the Mater Smiling for Smiddy Challenge to raise awareness and funds for Melanoma research. The challenge will be held in South Australia and along with 70 other dedicated cyclists we will be riding up to 680 kms with Support Crew

Why am I joining this challenge?

Adam Smiddy was a good friend of mine who had his life cut short at the age of 26 (in 2006) after a very short battle against a very aggressive Melanoma Cancer. I am riding in memory of Adam, his mum Maria (who also passed due to cancer), my mum (who died of Brain Cancer - Glioblastoma) and everyone else I know that has been touched by cancer in some way. We have got to do something right.

My profile picture is of Adam and I finishing the Noosa Half Marathon in 2004. It is a special memory I have of the time we spent together. He was such a genuine, caring and happy person who would do anything for anyone and always helped the people around him however he could. Its my turn to help do whatever I can to help battle Cancer and I would love you on board for the journey.

If you are able to support my fundraising in anyway, I really would appreciate it

I’m committed to making a real impact for cancer research at Mater.

As part of the challenge I’m aiming to raise valuable funds to support the work of Mater Research—Mater’s world-class research institute that’s investing in some game-changing work into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer.

And this is where I need your help.

Together, we can help to give more families more time together; to make more memories.

Riding in memory of Adam, Maria, Mum and anyone else that has lost someone to Cancer. This is such an important journey and hopefully some of the funds raised lead to improved outcomes for others :)
