We're part of the International Women's Day Fun Run!
Last year our friend and colleague Holly was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She had a preschooler at the time. It was a scary time, and it reminded us all that this things can, and do, happen. When they do you need evidenced-based treatments, support from family and your "breasties", and a good sense of humour!
In typical Holly style, she project-managed the heck out of it and tackled treatment head-on. We are incredibly grateful to say she is now in full remission and back at work with us. While some parts of her treatment (surgery, chemo etc) are finished, other parts are will continue over the next few years.
Our team is comprised of researchers from the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research. We know the value of research. Research drives earlier detection, better treatments, and real hope, not just in theory but in people’s lives. It's because of research that Holly will be around to see her daughter grow up. We are taking part in this so more people can have outcomes like Holly.
