Why I signed up for the International Women’s Day Fun Run!
Anyone who knows me knows I'm big into research. Normally, this is to improve outcomes for children and families, but recently, it was brought home to me that the risk of losing a parent to breast cancer is still very present.
When my friend Holly was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer when her daughter was 3, it was a wake-up call. What if she didn't make it? Her daughter would grow up without a mum. I put myself in her shoes and imagined having to prepare my own kids and get ready to say goodbye. No-one should have to face that. This is what hit me but It's not just people with kids. Breast cancer can hit anyone (even males) and a cancer diagnosis is a lot to process and everyone has loved ones they'd leave behind if the worst happens.
I'm taking part in this fun run to raise funds for those battling breast cancer. To ensure they have the support they need during treatment and to improve research so fewer people face what Holly went through.
I'll be grateful if you are willing to sponsor me and donate. But I'm also asking you to check your breasts and stay up to date with mammograms if appropriate. Early detection is still key.
So far this year I have helped raise money for:

3
mastectomy
bras

2
wigs and
scarfs
