2026 Sunflower Festival Fundraising
Growing Sunflowers. Growing Hope.
Each year when the sunflowers bloom in Kalbar, something special happens. What began as a simple idea has grown into a community coming together with a shared goal — helping others.
The Kalbar Sunflower Festival is about more than sunflowers. Every bunch of flowers picked, every raffle ticket purchased and every visit to the farm helps raise funds that go directly toward improving cancer care.
Our fundraising journey with the Mater Foundation began when my husband Russell was first diagnosed with cancer. It was our way of trying to do something positive in the middle of a difficult time. Since Russell’s passing, that commitment has only grown stronger, and continuing this work has become an important part of his legacy.
This year we are fundraising again for the Mater Foundation, helping raise funds for a SPY-PHI Imaging System for the Mater Cancer Care Centre at Springfield. This specialised technology assists surgeons during cancer procedures by helping them see blood flow and tissue more clearly, improving outcomes for patients.
We are incredibly grateful to the many people who visit the farm and take part in the festival each year. Your kindness and generosity help turn a field of sunflowers into something that brings real hope to others.

Kalbar Sunflowers has set a goal to raise $50,000 for help cancer patients being treated at Mater Hospital Springfield. Thank you for your support.
This year we’re funding a Spy‑Phi imaging system — a fluorescent surgical camera that reveals blood flow and vital tissues normally invisible to the eye. It helps surgeons remove cancer more precisely, protect healthy tissue, and reduce complications, leading to safer operations, faster recovery, and better outcomes for patients.
