I am taking on Noosa Triathlon 2026
Thanks for taking the time to read my 'blurb'.
This year I'm taking a nod to the 'fear of failure' and as Bear Grylls says (and what I remind my boys when they shy away from a commitment) you 'never give up'.
Remember years ago in Chicago rubbing shoulders with some Cancer survivors with Movember who were the happiest, kindest and most genuine people you've ever met. They had survived because failure was not an option.
This morning I read up on how you mentally prepare for ocean swimming. Am terrified of sharks, and when it comes time for an ocean swim and I walk into the water chest deep, I just clam up. In that moment the prospect of swimming feels like a dream that I can do another day. But that very fear is what a Cancer survivor has to overcome probably in the first few months of their diagnosis, and they can't push the decision to another day.
So yes, we all have to find a way to overcome our fears in our own personal ways, and it is a BIG (but not insurmountable) challenge.
First week of November, I'll be taking on an Olympic distance triathlon. That's a 1,500m swim, 40km ride and 10km run!
As part of my challenge I'm supporting the Mater foundation researching the causes, prevention and treatment of various types of cancer.
