To all the women out there you are amazing and so strong. Keep standing and don't give up! Thank you for being my superheroes.

Today I'm running for:

Today I'm running for:
Women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer
Hi everyone! I'm taking part this year in supporting women who have breast cancer by participating in the RACQ International Women's Day Fun Run on Sunday 6th March 2022. My goal is to complete 21.1km (half a marathon). If you like to support me in any way, I'd greatly appreciate it. Even words of encouragement and moral support will boost my morale. A little anecdote: I come from a family with a strong genetic history of cancer. This includes breast cancer, other forms of cancer, benign and malignant as well as recurrence of tumours. For me, cancer is the biggest fear that I have - second to none. Growing up, I watched my grandma deal with cancer thrice, and the ensuing surgery and post-op chemo/radiotherapy. My mum had a breast cancer scare last year, but it ended up being additional growth of benign cysts. At some point last year, I became wrought with paranoia when I discovered a lump on my right shoulder and was convinced it was malignant. I got an ultrasound done, and thankfully it was nothing to do with cancer (just some fat necrosis on my shoulder). During the period of lockdown in 2021, my anxiety that I have cancer - or that it's inevitable that I will be diagnosed with cancer - shot through the roof. I know that this fear isn't rational. I've spoken to many close friends about my somewhat neurotic fear of cancer, particularly breast cancer. And yes - I've been seeking professional help. I figured that besides taking steps to conquering my anxiety associated with the fear of cancer, I could put my energy and focus into fundamentally constructive use in helping women who have been diagnosed with cancer by joining in this Fun Run.

Well here I am after 3 infusions of immunotherapy, feeling strong and ready to ride. My heart goes out to all those who have some of the dreadful side effects that this therapy can cause. No riding for me Thursday and Friday as Friday I have my first whole body scan to gauge the effectiveness of this treatment on my body though early signs are good. With Godโs help I dare to hope for cure. So in the first 2 days of this challenge I have managed to ride 67km. I am well on my way towards my goal. Why I do it.................. โBecause cancer effects everyone, everyday in every way. Raising monies gives the cancer council the ability to do more in the fight against cancer. This is close to my heart as it has effected so many close to me, whether they have fought the battle and now carry the scars, still fighting the battle or have lost their battle from this dreadful disease.
