Finishing touches to the tutu!
Last night I was sewing the last flowers, bubbles and butterflies onto the tutu for the walk tomorrow. I was enjoying sewing, something I haven't done for a very long time. I was thinking about how much time i spend reading, writing and teaching and no time at all on the handcrafts I also love! Maybe it's time to think about how I spend the precious minutes, hours and days of my life.
I was also thinking about the many fabulous and beautiful women I know who've experienced breast cancer. Some of whom have, thankfully survived, far too many who have not. Breast cancer is a disease that has touched all of us in some way. I was thinking about the scientists, doctors, nurses and other health professionals along with all the volunteers who work to cure/heal/support those with this disease. I'm grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you.
I'm glad to be taking part in this fundraising effort along with 15,000 other people who will be running/walking/hobbling along tomorrow morning to raise money for wigs, mastectomy bras, counselling, yoga and meditation sessions for women who are recovering from this disease. These items are expensive and without this fundraising effort, women would have to go with out. Thank you to you beautiful people who've sponsored me in this endeavour - you are stars! I'm deeply grateful x
Titillating the tutu ...
I'm amazed that the fundraising fun run is only one week away! Where did that time go!
So I've been sewing flowers on the tutu to make it a bit more scintillating but I think I'm needing a bit more sparkle - what do you think?
I also need to up my fundraising activity - I've set a goal to raise $1000 - this is such a worthy cause and I know how grateful women are for the support with the items such as counselling, yoga, meditation groups, wigs and mastectomy bras, the cost of which can be prohibitive for many women recovering from breast cancer.
If you can help, even $5 is a great help as every drop adds to the river of good.
I'm looking forward to the walk with colleagues, friends and many others, friends not yet met next Sunday!
Getting ready! Pretty in Pink?
So now I've got my pink t-shirt, hot pink leggings and hot pink tutu ready for the fun walk to support women recovering from breast cancer. I still have to decorate the tutu with hearts and other motifs to spice it up a bit - pink motifs of course!
I'm looking for pink socks and am wondering about the shoes ... hmmmm
Also, I have a white cowboy hat which I'm thinking of spraying pink for the occasion, what do you think?
I'm really thrilled to be joining my colleagues on this fund raising venture. When Kathleen asked me to join the group, I was delighted to do so. I have so many darling friends and relatives who've experienced breast cancer and I know how grateful they were for the wigs, mastectomy bras and counselling to help them manage the process in the best way possible. I'm glad to be doing something helpful in this practical way. I'm grateful too for all my friends who've donated to the cause. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There are so many worthy causes, the ravages of the recent bushfires on both human and other lifeforms has been huge, so I'm grateful to have your support with this one. The date is coming up quickly, so I'm on a roll to get ready.
I’ve signed up to the RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run!
I'm raising funds to support women with breast cancer, providing things like counselling, wigs and mastectomy bras. As little as $58 can make a profound impact and take some of the stress off women with breast cancer and their families. Will you help me?
Thank you to my Sponsors
