As many of you know, our beautiful son, Benjamin Clem Freitas-Kirk, affectionately known as Benji, was born on August 24, 2024—the happiest day of our lives. But soon after, we noticed something was wrong when he started turning blue.
Doctors quickly discovered that Benji's oxygen levels were dangerously low. He spent his time in the Mater Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) in Brisbane, relying on multiple machines to help him breathe.
We were hopeful as he started gaining weight and growing, but his little lungs were not improving. Each day, his condition worsened.
Heartbreakingly, Benji passed away on September 23, just one day shy of his first month with us.
We made a promise to him that I would dedicate my life to honouring his memory. We know Benji will be watching over us for the rest of our lives, and we hope to make him proud.
We love you forever, our precious son. Fly high baby and go easy!
Funds raised will go to the Mater Foundation to support the NCCU, where Benji spent his 30 days.
