Top five tips for fundraising success
BNEtoGC offers another level of dedication beyond just a cycling challenge—cycling for a loved one living with cancer.
Inspire, surprise or honour the cancer fighter in your life by personally dedicating your ride to them. Prove actions speak louder than words, as you raise awareness and vital funds to support life-saving cancer research and improve patient outcomes at Mater.
To get you started, here are our top five tips to set you up for success!
1.
Make your fundraising page shine
Log in to your dashboard and update your page. Add a profile picture and a personal message to let people know why you’ve decided to take on 100km and raise funds in support of those affected by cancer.
2.
Set the bar and self donate
Kickstart your fundraising with a self donation, showing them that this is a cause close to your heart. This encourages them to make a donation of a similar value to support you!
3.
Spread the word
You’re doing something incredible, so share it! The more people who see your fundraising page, the more donations you’ll receive. Post on social media, share it in group chats and send it by email. Don’t forget to keep your supporters updated on your progress!
4.
Get creative
There are so many different ways you can raise vital funds to support live-saving cancer research at Mater. Host a sausage sizzle or a trivia night, or create some friendly competition amongst your friends with a lucky numbers board!
5.
Say thank you!
Celebrate the meaningful difference your supporters are helping you make by saying thank you. You can send a text message, give them a call or make a post on social media to shout them out. It might feel like a small gesture, but it goes a long way to make your donors feel appreciated!
Social media is one of the easiest ways to boost your fundraising.
A few tips:
- Suggest a donation amount
- Share why the ride matters to you
- Explain how funds support cancer research at Mater
- Post updates — and thank donors publicly
- Tag @brisbanetogoldcoast so others can learn more
Important: If posting on Facebook, don’t use the “Add a Donate Button” option — donations made this way won’t appear on your fundraising page.
Matched giving
Ask if your employer will match your fundraising and double your impact.
Host a morning tea
Bring colleagues together, share your story and invite donations. Fundraising posters can help point people to your page.
Team tools
Download posters, social tiles, email signatures and fundraising templates — including a lucky numbers board for a bit of friendly competition.
