Youth Participation – Eligibility & Requirements

To ensure the safety of all riders, the following age restrictions and conditions apply to youth participants in the Mater’s Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer:

  • Participants must be 16 years of age on event day.
  • Riders under 16 years are not permitted to participate.
  • Riders aged 16–17 years may take part in the 100km course as long as all requirements are meet including submitting a completed Parental Consent Form.
  • Consent must be received and approved at least 30 days prior to the event. If consent is not provided by this time, the Rider Kit (including Rider Plate) will not be issued and participation will not be permitted.
  • The nominated emergency contact must not be participating in the event and must be contactable by mobile phone at all times on event day.
  • Riders aged 16–17 years do not need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the event.
  • A mobile phone must be carried by youth participants at all times for contact with a parent or guardian if required.
  • All riders must follow the directions of Mater Foundation staff and event personnel at all times.

Youth Rider Registration Steps

  1. Youth rider registers through the event registration process.
  2. The Parent or guardian submits the required consent form to the Mater Foundation for review.
  3. Consent must be received and approved 1 months before the event — if consent is not provided, the Rider Kit (including Rider Plate) will not be issued, and participation will not be permitted.
  4. Completed consent forms recevied by the team will be confirmed as being received via email.
