Walking is hard but...

I loved walking always- have walked when I am happy, sad , wanted to celebrate or just with my dog! 
However, now walking is hard as the medication I took impacted my knees and all joints. Even though I do not take those medicines any more , the residual impact is still there :(

The weight gained on Tamoxifen is also putting extra pressure on my knees and trust me I am trying HARD to lose it and I will but in the meantime - it is hard to walk some days with a terribly sore knee.  

Therefore when I sign up for this 5KM walk - it is a challenge to cancer for keeping its head down 

You see, even though walking is hard but with a cause it is a walk/step towards beating Cancer!! and for that I will walk - sore knees  or not!!!!

What does Cancer Means?

Cancer - the word itself is scary and trust me it is a sword which is always hanging over the survivors - Any new symptom anywhere in the body creeps the doubt and raises the dreaded question - "What if this is.... !!!???"

The Fatigue which is the worst part of it becomes better but never ever leaves fully . The new normal is way different from one's known self and it took me ages to come to terms with it and even though it has been 4 years now - I still struggle some times to accept the reality and limitations of cancer .

BUT - I refuse to bow down to it - it can not break me any more because I have a purpose and that is to make cancer so insignificant by advanced medical research that it will resemble common cold! If everyone can afford early detection and treatment - Cancer will be truly defeated . 

So FOR ME Cancer is an adversary which will one day bow down and exit this nasty stigma and will salute all the people who gave their life to it as well as all the survivors.
