Volunteer

Join the excitement and register to volunteer on Sunday 23 August! There are a number of roles available to help support the 4,000+ riders on event day.

Mater's Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer is an epic event that takes a huge team to bring to life—and it simply wouldn’t happen without our incredible volunteers. Don’t miss your chance to be part of it—register your interest early and get in on the action!

Volunteering at B2GC is your chance to jump in, build new skills, meet amazing people and soak up the electric atmosphere. With a wide range of roles across the start and finish lines and all along the route, there’s something for everyone. You could be welcoming riders, fuelling them at rest stops, cheering them on, helping keep the course safe as a marshal, assisting with bike logistics—and so much more.

Minimum age 

The minimum age for volunteers on this event is 15 years old. Volunteers aged between 15 and 18 will require a parent or guardian complete and sign a parental consent form.

Start Line Information & Help Desk Crew

Location: Start Line, South Brisbane. The Start line will be at the intersection of Grey St and Melbourne St, South Brisbane.

Shift time: 4:45am - 6:45am

Help us with: Answering questions from riders and point them in the right direction to assemble for their start. Assist with rider kit changes with the support of the Mater Foundation team. Receive participant bags and label for transport to Finishers' Village.

Start Line Marshal

Location: Start Line, South Brisbane. The Start line will be at the intersection of Grey St and Melbourne St, South Brisbane.

Shift time: 4:45am - 6:45am

Help us with: Keeping riders moving in the right direction towards the start line. You may also be required to hold back the waves of next riders, until the staff ask you to send them through to the start line.

Rest Stop Crew

Location: Rest Stop 1 - Eagleby State School, Eagleby

Shift time: 5:30am – 10:30am

Help us with: Refuelling riders at the first rest stop of the course. This is their first opportunity to take a break before continuing on to the Gold Coast. 

Each rest stop will have a crew of volunteers who are there to cheer on riders, hand out snacks and refreshments, and keep them moving in the right direction.

VIP Area Support Crew

Location: Fisherman's Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast

Shift times: 5:30am – 10:30am or 10:30am - 2:30pm

Help us with: Assisting with checking in our Honour Roll VIPs (highest fundraisers), congratulate them and thank them for their efforts in supporting cancer research. You will have complimentary food and drinks to look after in this area, as well as keeping the area tidy and ensuring the VIPs are happy.

Finish Line Cheer Squad

Location: Fisherman's Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast

Shift times: 8:15am – 10:30pm or 10:30am - 1:45pm

Help us with: Cheering on the 4,000+ riders as they cross the finish line and direct them towards the Finishers’ Village entry.

 

All-Rounder Finishers' Village

Location: Fisherman's Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast

Shift times: 5:30am - 10:30am or 10:30am - 2:30pm

Help us with: Set up or pack down at the Finisher's Village (erecting/removing signage, placing tables and chairs out or packing away, assisting staff where necessary).

You may be required to assist with managing the finish site participant flow or vendor/toilet line ups, as we are always seeking to ensure the finish venue is free from unnecessary congestion, especially in the entry/exit areas.

You may also be required to assist staff with selling raffle tickets, directing participants to important locations within the venue such as toilets, transport, medics, mechanics, water, food etc. Your exact role in the finish venue will be advised on the day (or shortly before).


Finishers' Village Bar Attendant

Location: Fisherman's Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast

Shift times: 8:45am - 1:45pm

Help us with: Selling and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the Finishers' Village. Ensure people stay within the boundaries of the licensed area while they are consuming. Currrent RSA is preferred to assist in this role.

Finishers' Village Help Desk and Baggage Tent Crew

Location: Fisherman's Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast

Shift times: 8:15am - 2:00pm

Help us with:  Answering participant queries and handing over bags that have been dropped off at the start line.

Personal details

The minimum age for volunteers on this event is 15 years old. Volunteers aged between 15 and 18 will require a parent or guardian complete and sign a parental consent form and submit the completed form via this volunteer registration process (file upload available below).

If you are part of a Volunteer Group and would prefer to volunteer together, please complete this section. We will do our best to keep you in the same or a nearby role. Please note that due to role availability, this may not always be possible.

Volunteer role

There are a number of volunteer roles available. We will do our best to place you in your preferred position, however, this may not always be possible. 

Volunteers in selected roles may be provided with a vest/shirt to wear.
Our best efforts will be taken to ensure a shirt closest to your preferred size is made available.
