LONGEST RIDE 🚴🏻‍♀️

Sitting in the car - on our way to look at a FB market place bike 🚲- with sore legs but a happy heart.

This morning we did a 75km ride, my longest ride ever, to get ready for the 100km ride in just over 2 months ✌🏼These rides are bitter sweet because we’re cycling the routes that Josh and cycled with a group of mates one of which lost his battle with cancer over a year ago. Josh still tells the stories of how they cycled together and how they sprinted specific sections.

We started - well me more than Josh - this training program to finish a 100km cycle with no intent to put a lot of effort into fundraising BUT as we got cycling, Josh kept talking about times spent cycling with his mates and based on the money that we’ve already raised with a very small effort made I’m seeing more and more how much these fundraising events mean to people. So I’m in - the next 2 months I’ll be that person bugging people on my social media to fundraise as much as I can. Because honestly a post here and there doesn’t cost me anything but could make the difference in someone’s life. 🤟🏼

OVERWHELMING SUPPORT

I’m so thankful for all the donations we’ve received in a short 24 hours!! THANK YOU!! 🎉

I shared it with the hope that people would be moved to donate a few dollars here and there BUT in 24 hours I’ve been able to see the generosity of friends to see a change! So much that I’ve upped my fundraising goal to $500 instead of the starting $350 🤩🤩

Let’s keep going!! I’ll wear my GC2B socks 🧦 with pride 🧡

100Ks on 2 Wheels from Brissie to the GC

In 2023 my husband and I set out a goal to start competing in Triathlons which meant I had to get on a bicycle, something I haven't done since I cycled around the neighbourhood as a kid. 100kms on a bike is a big deal, but not as big of a deal as finding the cure for all types of cancer.

We all know someone directly or indirectly that has been given the Big C diagnosis. More commonly we've all seen the impact the diagnosis has on complete families. I've seen that personally - it's still raw - so that's why I'm raising funds to help.

I'm putting my body on the line - if you know you know - and will tackle the early morning wake ups, winter cold, hills and my fear of falling of the bike BUT I need your support to put some much needed money towards Cancer Research and Support Services.

  • Thanks to your support, Karien Maskelyne has raised enough for 4.5 hours of research lab time.

Thank you to my amazing Sponsors
